Is it worth buying ‘Asus Zenfone 5’ from Flipkart?

Posted by Mathivanan in: Android Asus zenfone 5 smartphones technology
There are plenty of mobiles with high end specifications have penetrated the market and China has become no.1 mobile sellers recently. We need to analyse how did they do this and we will do it in later posts. Recently ‘Flipkart’ has started exclusive marketing of mobiles the most successfully with high level of tactics in site navigation, pricing, availability and pre-registration. All these stirred the mobile market and the other online shopping companies and mobile manufacturers. We need to appreciate the marketing techniques the site uses.

Flipkart
How do they do this in site navigation?
The site will automatically shows the mobile out of stock if more than a certain number of clients clicks buy now, the site will show the article out of stock to prevent the crashing!? This is the statement from the official Facebook site of ‘Asus Zenfone 5’. Can you believe it? I don’t either. Pre-registration is obviously a technic to raise the demand and buyers’ and shopaholics’ pulse.
That’s great in terms of business and we cannot say anything wrong legally and we all know there is no human ethics in any business and only business ethics is there.
Let us discuss the phone’s features and its actual status of functioning because I bought this a week back and bit struggling not due to the fault in the phone but the actual performance. It is like a review of a customer with some technical inputs.
First 'what are the features of ‘Asus Zenfone 5’?

First the look is fantastic with the one I bought and it is black with 8 GB. It is a 1.6 GHz dual core processor by Intel, that has already been tested with XOLO and didn’t click well and now it comes with partnership with Asus. The speed is absolutely fine and better when compared with other dual core phones with ‘mediatek processors’.

Looks of Zenfone 5
The 5’ display with HD resolution of 1280x720 and 294 ppi also worth the price tag.
The camera which we consider as second or third priority is 8MP in rear and 2MP in the front. The rear camera comes with ‘Pixelmaster technology’ the company claims to provide so called perfect photos with the brightness of 5 lenses with various features. However the photos are good not the perfect (nothing is perfect in this world). Sonic master sound is also very good.
It comes with dual sim. The UI they describe is ‘ZenUI’ exclusively designed for the needs of the phone. I think every phone comes like this but this company gives a name.
Memory and connectivity cannot be commented as they are usually good in any phone.

Finally, the battery with 2110 mAh does justify the spec of 18 hours of 3G talk time. After fixing all settings properly and with battery savers it does not last for more than five hours with 2 hours internet usage. Please remember we are not discussing the talk time, the whole battery life.
Verdict:
The phone is attractive, with good features and better UI experience in the beginning, the battery is getting a very below average. The suggestion is there are much better quad core Indian phones available in this price tag but Flipkart has won in creating demand selling the phones.
