Why did Pakistan ban You Tube?
Most of us are aware of Pakistan banned You Tube across the country.
What are the reasons could be?
Well, we know that Pakistan is a conservative Islamic country that does
not tolerate anything sacrilegious or blasphemous actions. The PPP government
banned You Tube in September 2012. It was told that Google was not ready to
remove a sacrilegious film from the site. This has sparked violent protests in
many regions of the nation. The ban followed this.
Reportedly an NGO called ‘Bytes
for All’ filed a petition to remove the ban. The hearing was carried out by
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah in the high court of Lahore.
A court of Pakistan on Thursday denied issuing an interim order to
restore the services of banned video-sharing website, YouTube, in the country.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of Lahore High Court sought suggestions
from experts to take away the undesirable and blasphemous stuff from You Tube
and other websites as well.
The counsel of the ‘Bytes for All’ advocated the court to pass interim orders for allowing You Tube. The counsel of this NGO asserted “the internet curbs are divesting Pakistanis’ right to information, right to counter propaganda against Pakistan and their beliefs. This is equivalent to taking away the pen from the scholar. This is further infringement of basic rights to knowledge and reading. He added that Pakistanis are affected by the ban.
